The social sector leaders that make up Manaaki Tairāwhiti have each been responsible for improving the lives of vulnerable people. But together we can develop better local solutions and eliminate uninformed decision making, duplication, and missed opportunities. Added to our resolve is the endorsement from central government to form a strong local group and lead the sector.
Under Manaaki Tairāwhiti, groups such as Safe Tairāwhiti Community Trust, Violence Free Tairāwhiti and the Prisoner Integration network will now be supported by the same single governance entity that oversees government-led approaches such as Te Pā Harakeke Tairāwhiti Children’s Team and Whāngaia Ngā Pā Harakeke – the police-led, iwi supported family harm programme.

Manaaki Tairāwhiti is taking a ‘big picture’ approach to get the best out of our efforts for families. We want to co-design service provision with those families who are most affected by our work.
